Overview
CONTAINS OPIOID – Can cause Addiction. Use For NO MORE THAN 3 DAYS
How do Migraleve Yellow Tablets provide continued pain relief? Migraleve Yellow Tablets are specifically formulated to treat the persisting headache associated with a migraine attack. Migraleve Yellow Tablets contain two active ingredients which are paracetamol and codeine phosphate. Paracetamol is an analgesic and antipyretic which means the ingredient reduces pain and lowers fever. Codeine phosphate belongs to a class of medicines called opioid analgesics. Codeine works by binding to opioid receptors in the brain and spinal cord to block the transmission of pain signals from the body. This combination allows Migraleve Yellow Tablets to provide stronger relief than paracetamol alone which is often necessary for the intense throbbing pain of a migraine.
What is the difference between Migraleve Pink and Migraleve Yellow tablets? The Migraleve system is designed to treat the changing symptoms of a migraine. While the Pink tablets contain an anti-sickness ingredient called buclizine Migraleve Yellow Tablets do not. Migraleve Yellow Tablets are intended to be used as a follow-up treatment once the initial nausea or vomiting has subsided. By excluding the anti-sickness medication, Migraleve Yellow Tablets allow the user to continue treating the pain without subjecting the body to unnecessary sedation or drowsiness associated with antihistamines. This makes Migraleve Yellow Tablets suitable for the later stages of an attack when the user may need to remain alert.
What specific conditions do Migraleve Yellow Tablets treat? Although Migraleve Yellow Tablets are primarily marketed for migraines Migraleve Yellow Tablets are effective for other types of moderate to severe pain. Migraleve Yellow Tablets can be used to treat tension headaches and dental pain and muscular aches. However Migraleve Yellow Tablets should only be used when weaker painkillers such as aspirin or ibuprofen or paracetamol alone have not worked.
Who Is It For
Who are Migraleve Yellow Tablets suitable for? Migraleve Yellow Tablets are suitable for adults and children aged 12 years and over. Migraleve Yellow Tablets are designed for individuals who have already taken Migraleve Pink Tablets and require further doses to manage their headache. Migraleve Yellow Tablets are also suitable for migraine sufferers who experience head pain without the accompanying nausea and therefore do not need the Pink tablets. Migraleve Yellow Tablets are not suitable for children under 12 years of age due to the risk of severe breathing problems associated with codeine.
Usage Instructions
How to take Migraleve Yellow Tablets correctly? For adults and children aged 12 years and over the recommended dose is two Migraleve Yellow Tablets swallowed with a glass of water. Migraleve Yellow Tablets can be taken every four hours. If the user has started with Migraleve Pink Tablets the user must wait at least four hours after that first dose before taking Migraleve Yellow Tablets. The maximum daily dose is eight tablets in any 24-hour period. This limit applies to the combined total of Pink and Yellow tablets taken.
How long can Migraleve Yellow Tablets be used? Migraleve Yellow Tablets contain codeine which can lead to addiction if used continuously. Users should not take Migraleve Yellow Tablets for more than three consecutive days. If the pain persists longer than three days the user should consult a doctor. Using painkillers for headaches too frequently can cause medication-overuse headache where the tablets actually cause the condition to worsen over time.
Warnings
When should Migraleve Yellow Tablets be avoided? Migraleve Yellow Tablets are contraindicated meaning they must not be used by women who are breastfeeding. Codeine passes into breast milk and can be converted into morphine by the body which can cause fatal respiratory depression in the baby. Migraleve Yellow Tablets should not be used by people who are ultra-rapid metabolisers of codeine. Patients with acute asthma or severe respiratory depression should avoid Migraleve Yellow Tablets as opioids can slow down breathing.
Safety advice and potential side effects? Although Migraleve Yellow Tablets do not contain the sedating antihistamine found in the Pink tablets codeine itself can still cause drowsiness or dizziness. Users should not drive or operate machinery if they feel affected. Migraleve Yellow Tablets can also cause constipation. Users should avoid alcohol while taking Migraleve Yellow Tablets as alcohol increases the risk of serious side effects.
Alternatives
Common alternatives to Migraleve Yellow Tablets? If Migraleve Yellow Tablets are not suitable or a codeine-free option is preferred common alternatives include: Co-codamol Tablets: Generic tablets containing the same combination of paracetamol and codeine often available at a lower cost. Nurofen Express: Contains ibuprofen lysinate which targets inflammation and absorbs quickly to treat headache pain without using opioids. Panadol Extra Advance: Contains paracetamol and caffeine to boost pain relief without the risk of addiction associated with codeine. Imigran Recovery: A triptan medication that targets the root cause of the migraine in the brain vessels rather than just masking the pain.
